Best of British or is Variety the Spice of Life?
With the incredible variety of holidays on offer these days and the regular influx of advertisements tempting us into UK breaks and luxury long haul breaks away, it can leave your head in a spin. Whenever you walk into a holiday shop you are surrounded by glossy holiday images and text tempting you with some fabulous locations.
The question is would your children sit happily on a plane for hours? Would you prefer not to travel for hours when you can enjoy the sun within a couple of hours? Could you have a great holiday within the UK?
When booking a Family Holiday I think it is essential to think like a child but from an adult’s perspective, you may want a sun kissed tan and a relaxing beach holiday, but how would the kids fare, would it be too hot and would they get bored, leaving you with a lot of winging kids!
The perfect family holiday is striking the medium and finding something that will suit the little folk and the grown ups. Decide on where you want to go and book in advance as you can take advantage of some of the holiday companies offers with Free Child Places.
When planning your Family holiday consider the weather, what sort of climate do you want and what time of year are you planning on taking your break away.
Holidays in some foreign climates can be rather hot and may not be suitable for newborns; however older children may be perfectly happy playing in the pool. Whereas if you stay in the UK you may strike it lucky and have some good weather or perhaps not and you will have a rainy break away. It must be remembered though that you don’t always have to have heat to have a brilliant holiday.
It depends on your own family circumstances as to whether you opt for a long haul holiday or stay within a European destination. Below details a table of travel times from the UK to some of the best selling holiday destinations:
Travelling with children needn’t be a hassle check out wherever you choose just ensure you have loads of sun creams and drinks to ensure everyone is fully hydrated.
Spain and Italy are great holiday destinations with kids as there are lots of beaches, lots of things to see and lots of nice food that most children tend to like.
Tenerife 4 hours
Majorca 2 – 2.30 hours
Menorca 2hours
Spain 2hours 30mins
Orlando Florida 9 hours 10 minutes
Greece 4 hours
Ibiza 2 hours 35
Turkey 4 hours
Egypt 5 hours
Italy
France
A Family holiday France is another good idea as you can travel using a plane which is a short flying time of about 1.5 hours or travel using the Euro star which is also quite quick at 3 hours or if you prefer you could take the Euro tunnel, but this has a longer travelling time.
